Lawyer Valeri Gelbakhiani says electronic devices, flash memory cards seized from journalist Eliso Kiladze's apartment

Lawyer Valeri Gelbakhiani said that electronic devices, flash memory cards and documentation were seized from journalist Eliso Kiladze’s apartment following a 7-hour-long search.

“Although the apartment is not big, consisting of 2 rooms only, all papers were searched, read, sealed and confiscated. This procedure took a long time. Nothing significant was seized: two laptop computers, a cell phone, notebooks, two or three flash memory cards and family cash money. Her husband confirmed that cash money, not much, belonged to him.

So far, from what I have seen, the search report and ruling, and the information from the prosecutor’s office, I consider them to be baseless accusations. I have complaints about the thoroughness of the search. When there is a justification for the trial, I will present it there,” he said.

Journalist Eliso Kiladze has been arrested in connection with an alleged scam call centre case, swindling and money laundering. According to the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office, she is among several people charged, including former chief prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze.
