Law enforcers intercept illegal importation of psychotropic substances through Kazbegi customs checkpoint; arrest a foreign national

Officers of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the Revenue Service of the Finance Ministry intercepted the illegal importation of a large quantity of psychotropic substances into Georgia through the Kazbegi customs checkpoint.

Law enforcers arrested a foreign national after they discovered a large amount of psychotropic substances upon body and luggage checks.

The investigation is in progress under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment as a punishment of up to 5 years.
