Law enforcement intercepts large-scale narcotics and psychotropic substances smuggling into Georgia
Officers from the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), in cooperation with the Revenue Service’s Customs Department, have detained two individuals on suspicion of illegal possession and smuggling of a substantial quantity of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances into Georgia.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, law enforcement personnel apprehended two foreign nationals at Tbilisi International Airport and the Sarpi border crossing.
“During searches of the suspects’ personal and travel belongings, various narcotics and psychotropic substances were uncovered, including cocaine, methamphetamine, and pregabalin. The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260, 261, 261 Prima, and 262 of the Criminal Code, which stipulate penalties of up to 12 years’ imprisonment,” the Ministry stated.
