Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Economy: Kyrgyzstan and Georgia signed protocol setting out key areas of cooperation we must now develop

“Kyrgyzstan and Georgia have much that unites them, and there are numerous projects that the two sides can explore and, in time, potentially bring to fruition,” said Bakyt Sydykov, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Economy and Commerce.

The Minister further noted that the parties had today signed a protocol setting out the principal directions of cooperation that both sides are committed to advancing.

“The second session of the Georgian-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held here in the Kyrgyz Republic. This is only the second such meeting following a ten-year hiatus; something that might well be regarded as a symbolic breakthrough in its own right. We have a great deal in common, and there is no shortage of projects that we can explore together and, with any luck, carry forward into reality.

Today, we signed a protocol outlining the key areas of cooperation that we must develop and actively advance. We place a high value on bilateral cooperation, especially given the significant transport and logistics potential that both countries currently hold. We see tremendous opportunity to translate these shared advantages into tangible results, not least in the areas of the Middle Corridor and green energy. The range of fields for cooperation is, in truth, quite extensive,” Bakyt Sydykov has stated.
