A statement was made that this hostile act against the Georgian people and Georgia has failed. Regarding Georgian-American relations, we are unequivocally open to restoring these ties,Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

The Prime Minister added that Georgia is awaiting the stance of the American side.

“We declare our desire to renew the strategic partnership, the partnership that President Biden and his administration discontinued shortly before Trump’s inauguration. This is our desire; the rest depends on the decision of the Trump administration. We are in a state of readiness, fully open to these relations. We will await the position of the American side. Whatever their stance, discussions will be held accordingly. We are completely prepared to restore the strategic partnership with the United States,” Kobakhidze stated.

For context, Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen recently stated before the Helsinki Commission: “It is unfortunate that the Senate didn’t pass, and it looks like they’re not going to pass the MEGOBARI Act. There were some problems over there, and it might have been related to one particular business that’s building a port. One individual was able to apparently kill it.”
