Knesset Speaker sends condolences to Speaker Papuashvili

Israeli Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana sent a condolence letter to Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili over the Shovi resort tragedy.

“Dear colleague,

I was profoundly saddened to learn of the devastating landslide in northwestern Georgia. The loss of life and injuries it has left in its wake is truly heartbreaking.

Despite the challenges that lie ahead for the residents of the Shovi area, I am confident that they will display strength and resilience in the days and weeks to come.

On behalf of my colleagues at the Knesset, I extend my most sincere condolences to the bereaved families, best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured, and deepest encouragement and reassurance to the Georgian people,” reads the letter.

The death toll of the August 3 Shovi landslide rose to 19. Sixteen people remain missing.
