Justice Ministry: ECHR finds national courts and enforcement compliant in Jashi v. Georgia case
The Strasbourg Court has ruled that the actions of the national courts and the National Bureau of Enforcement in the case of Jashi v. Georgia were in accordance with the European Convention. The Ministry of Justice has issued a statement regarding the decision.
According to the Ministry, the Court fully endorsed the legal position previously expressed and declared the applicant’s claims inadmissible as manifestly unfounded.
“The case concerned events that occurred between 2016 and 2021 and involved Ketevan Jashi, a university professor dismissed from her position. She alleged that a court decision ordering her reinstatement was not enforced at the national level. Despite these claims, the Strasbourg Court unequivocally confirmed that the national courts and the National Bureau of Enforcement acted with due diligence and took all necessary measures to enforce the legally binding decision. During the enforcement process, the applicant was offered a reasonable alternative solution, which she declined.
Today’s ruling clearly affirms that the national courts and the enforcement authorities conducted their proceedings fully in accordance with the standards of the European Convention,” the Ministry of Justice stated in its release.
