Jens Stoltenberg – NATO continues support to Georgia on path of alliance’s membership
NATO continues support to Georgia on a path of membership into the alliance – Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of NATO stated in Brussels after signing an accession protocol with North Macedonia. NATO Chief said that the ‘historic day’ confirmed that NATO door is open to the countries, which satisfy NATO standards.
“NATO door is open to the countries, which satisfy NATO standards, respect NATO values, the supremacy of law, democracy and individual liberties. We are glad what we see in Georgia. We appreciate Georgia’s efforts to carry out reforms, strengthen defense institutions and ensure transparency,” Stoltenberg stated.
According to NATO Secretary General, the alliance remains committed to the 2008 Bucharest Summit that Georgia will become a NATO member. He also said that NATO was grateful to Georgia for contributing to NATO peacekeeping missions and operations.
