Jens Stoltenberg: Afghanistan is no longer a shelter for terrorists, without Georgian soldiers it would be impossible to achieve
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze attended the NATO-Georgia Exercise 2019 today. The Prime Minister of Georgia and the NATO Secretary General met with armed forces members wounded and injured in international missions.
Jens Stoltenberg, on behalf of all members of the Alliance and partner countries, thanked them for their selfless service.
“First of all, I am grateful that I have the opportunity to be here and meet with all of you. I know that you serve for your country and alliance. The work that you do is very important for all of us since you help us in fight against terrorism. We are in Afghanistan to ensure that this country will no longer be a terrorist’s shelter. We have achieved a lot. When we launched our mission in Afghanistan in 2001-2002, Afghanistan was controlled by the Taliban. Afghanistan was a safe place for terrorists, we saw a brutal regime that oppressed the population.
Today, Afghanistan is no longer a shelter for terrorists. Without Georgian soldiers this would be impossible to achieve”, – Jens Stoltenberg said.
Mamuka Bakhtadze and Jens Stoltenberg visited the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center and attended the NATO-Georgia Exercise 2019 today.
