The United States continues strong support to Georgia with respect to improvement of defense capabilities as well as in process of the country’s integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures – James Mattis, United State Secretary of Defense said.
Mattis made the statement during the meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili within the framework of the 54th Munich Security Conference in Germany.
The sides discussed regional security issues and Russia’s aggressive moves across Georgia’s occupied regions. Focus was placed on carried out and ongoing reforms in defense sphere.
Mattis welcomed Georgia’s role of Georgian soldiers in global security. Georgian PM thanked US Secretary of Defense for support.
