James Appathurai: There is a really active discussion about the open door in NATO
There is a really active discussion about the open door in NATO, – said James Appathurai, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, in an exclusive interview with the Georgian Public Broadcaster.
Asked whether is already a discussion on providing Georgia with NATO Membership Action Plan, Appathurai said that speaking about the open-door policy is not a just statement.
“I can not name the exact date of the MAP granting to Georgia. But there is a really active discussion here about the open door, it is not a just statement that we come to every three months.
How do we take it forward; how do we make it real; how do we help our partners, this is something that we are going to energize again in the coming months. I’m reasonably sure that at the upcoming NATO Summit this will be one of the things that get discusses in the development of the Communique”, – James Appathurai said.
