Jailed ex-president says withheld truth is that Russia was defeated in 2008

“The truth which was withheld for many years is that Russia was catastrophically defeated in 2008,” jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili wrote in his Facebook post.

“What else can this be called when a country a trillion times larger attacks a small neighbor, yet fails to undermine its statehood, independence, freedom, or political course, and fails to achieve a single one of its own objectives?
