Issuance of credits up to 200 thousand GEL will be possible only in the national currency starting today – National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reports. The new rule refers to both physical and legal persons.

The change was made into the Civil Code of Georgia at the end of 2018 and has been enforced starting today. The upper edge of issuance of credits previously was 100 thousand GEL.

According to Koba Gvenetadze, President of NBG, exceptions for issuance of credits in foreign currency can be made only for citizens having no Georgian citizenship and legal persons registered abroad.
