IRI: 35 per cent of Georgias to vote for GD and 18 per cent to UNM if elections to be held this Sunday

According to the analysis conducted by the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) Center for Insights in Survey Research, 35 per cent of surveyed Georgians said they would vote for the Georgian Dream, 18 per cent chose the United National Movement and three per cent the European Georgia. IRI asked a question in its survey which party people would vote for if elections were held on coming Sunday.

Also, three per cent of Georgia would vote for Strategy Aghmashenebeli, two per cent for Girchi- Zurab Girchi Japaridze, 2 per cent for the Alliance of Patriots, two per cent for the Labour party, also 2 per cent for Citizens – Aleko Elisashvili and one per cent for Lelo (Mamuka Khazaradze-Badri Japaridze).

Ten per cent of surveyed Georgians said they would have voted for none of the parties, 15 per cent do not know or do not answer, and five per cent said they would have spoiled the ballot.

Moreover, the survey also asked a question: Which parties, if any, would you not vote for under any circumstances? Following the research, 27 per cent of Georgians named the Georgian Dream and 26 per cent – the United National Movement.

This survey was conducted on behalf of IRI’s Center for Insights in Survey Research by Dr Rasa Alisauskiene of the public and market research company Baltic Surveys/The Gallup Organization between February 2 and February 26, 2021. The fieldwork was conducted by the Institute of Polling and Marketing. Data was collected using a multistage probability sampling method through in-person, in-home interviews. The sample consists of 1,500 Georgians aged 18+ and eligible to vote. The data was weighted for age, gender, region and settlement size. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.5 per cent, and the response rate was 75 per cent. This survey was made possible by the support of the American people through the (USAID).
