Iran's COVID-19-related death toll nearly triple

The number of COVID-19-related deaths in Iran is nearly triple, according to BBC.

As British media outlet reports, as of July 20, the government’s own records show that almost 42,000 people died of coronavirus. The different figures published by the Health Ministry, according to which death toll stands at 14,405.

Based on an anonymous source who sent the data to the BBC, Iranian authorities have reported significantly lower daily numbers of the novel virus. The source claims the government tries to “shed light on truth” and to end “political games” over the epidemic.
