Irakli Kobakhidze supports termination of MP mandate to Nika Melia

Irakli Kobakhidze, a member of the parliamentary majority says that based on Constitution of Georgia, if the court ruling is in force, termination of MP mandate to a lawmaker has the legal ground.

Kobakhidze commented about the guilty verdict made against Nika Melia, MP of National Movement into case of artificial bankruptcy of Kartu Bank.

Kobakhidze said that speculations about political vengeance were not accurate and claimed that he would support termination of MP duties to Nika Melia since there was ‘no place for criminals in the parliament.’

The Tbilisi City Court made a guilty verdict against Zurab Adeishvili, former Justice Minister and Nika Melia, MP of National Movement into case of artificial bankruptcy of Kartu Bank.

Melia was imposed to pay the fine in the amount of 25 000 GEL and was deprived the right to serve as a public official with the term of 2 years and 3 months.
