Irakli Kobakhidze: Georgia leads among candidate countries; Georgian people's will must be respected
“The situation currently created within European bureaucracy is deeply deplorable, and Commissioner Kos’s statements only underscore this reality,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists in Shanghai, responding to European Commissioner Marta Kos’s remarks.
According to the Prime Minister, the Georgian people have clearly expressed their will, and everyone must respect and accept the democratic choice made by the Georgian people.
“Georgia stands out as a leading nation among the candidate countries in every respect; this includes our commitment to democracy, human rights, economic development, and a low corruption level. This is the reality of today.
Regarding the European bureaucracy, the European Commission spokesperson publicly supported the rally on October 4. That is a fact. The rest is a matter for healthy debate within Georgian society.
Even now, some individuals continue to call on the Georgian people. However, the Georgian people have clearly expressed their will, and I advise everyone to listen carefully to their voice and to respect the choices they have made, first in October 2024, and again in October 2025. There is no need to demean oneself with lies and speculation, which we have witnessed time and again,” the Prime Minister said.
