MIA investigates residential building collapse at Station Square for safety violations

Investigation into the fact of a residential building collapse on Station Square territory has been opened under Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Georgia which pertains to violations of safety regulations during mining, construction, or other related work, Minister of Internal Affairs, Gela Geladze said.

The minister confirmed the death of one individual and the transfer of another person to the hospital. He said rescue service and police forces arrived at the incident scene shortly.

“At this stage, I can confirm that one person has died, one person has been taken to the hospital. The patient can communicate and is receiving medical treatment. I will inform you if the number of casualties increases. Investigation is underway,” he told the media at the scene.
