Interior Ministry calls on protesters to refrain from illegal actions
Georgian Interior Ministry has called on the protest organizers and participants at the Chancellery to refrain from illegal actions, warning that “each illegal action will be immediately followed by legal response.”
“During the manifestation, violent actions were observed from the side of protestors several times. A number of rally participants ignored legal requests of police to express their protest in a peaceful manner, which was followed by administrative detention of two individuals.
Law enforcement officers seized a cold weapon from one of the arrested persons. The Ministry of Internal Affairs once again calls on the organizers and participants of manifestation to refrain from illegal actions,” reads the statement.
The protest against the Draft Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence has been underway for the third day. The Georgian parliament approved it with the first reading at Wednesday’s plenary sitting.
