Intelligence Service moves under State Security Service

The Intelligence Service, previously under the authority of the Prime Minister, will be transferred to the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG).

The relevant amendments were initiated at today’s Bureau session and are reflected in 26 different laws.

Under the changes, the Intelligence Service will become a sub-agency of the State Security Service, officially named the National Intelligence Agency. The initiative outlines the reorganisation of matters related to the agency’s functions and authority, its composition, structure, and internal organisation, as well as provisions ensuring non-interference in the official duties of its employees, legal safeguards for staff, and the agency’s funding.
