Infrastructure Ministry: Georgia and Türkiye strengthen collaboration in infrastructure development
The Minister of Infrastructure of Georgia, Revaz Sokhadze, accompanied by a delegation, is currently on an official visit to the Republic of Türkiye.
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the first meeting of the visit took place in Ankara between Deputy Minister Giorgi Koberidze and Mehmet Akif Balta, Director of the General Agency of State Waters of Türkiye.
During their discussion, the parties focused on deepening bilateral cooperation and exchanging expertise in water supply and wastewater infrastructure.
The Georgian Ministry of Infrastructure reports that Mehmet Akif Balta provided insights into the operations of Türkiye’s General Directorate of Water Supply and Sewerage, shared details of ongoing projects, and expressed Türkiye’s readiness to share its extensive technical knowledge and experience with Georgia.
“We are willing and prepared to share our technical expertise with our friendly neighbour, Georgia. We are also ready to host representatives from Georgia’s relevant agencies so they can observe our projects and results firsthand,” said Mehmet Akif Balta.
Giorgi Koberidze expressed gratitude for Türkiye’s warm hospitality and highlighted its leading role in modern infrastructure development.
“Türkiye is among the world’s frontrunners in infrastructure development. It is vital for Georgia to learn from this experience, adopt advanced technologies, and implement best practices in both current and future projects,” he stated.
As part of the official programme, Minister Revaz Sokhadze will meet with Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure. The delegation will also visit major transport infrastructure facilities and explore opportunities for exchanging best practices. Alongside Giorgi Koberidze, the delegation includes Levan Darakhvelidze, Chairman of the Roads Department, and his deputies.
