Infrastructure Minister, Adjara Government Chair inspect infrastructure projects in region
“Today in Adjara, we inspected various ongoing infrastructure projects. Construction of both educational institutions and road infrastructure is actively underway,” said Revaz Sokhadze, Minister of Infrastructure.
Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze and Chairman of the Adjara Government Sulkhan Tamazashvili inspected the progress of various infrastructure projects in the region.
According to the Infrastructure Minister, projects planned for the future were also inspected on site, including the Kobuleti multi-functional complex and Rugby stadium in Khutsubani, based on the initiative of the Prime Minister, who instructed construction of sports and cultural complexes in all municipalities.
Revaz Sokhadze remarked that the construction of the Sarphi tunnel would be launched soon, which was one of the most complicated engineering projects, but many international companies were highly interested in it.
“We have many important projects planned in all regions of the country, which will contribute to the development of infrastructure and improvement of the quality of life,” Revaz Sokhadze stated.
The Kobuleti multi-functional complex and the Rugby stadium in Khutsubani are planned by the Municipal Development Fund and will be implemented by the tender-winner company Building House in 2026. It will comprise swimming pools, a fitness and cultural-cognitive areas.
The Minister and Adjara Government Chair visited schools and kindergartens in Batumi city. Within urban development projects, pavements and roads will be reconstructed at Abashidze, Akhmeteli, Baratashvili, Gogebashvili, Zhordania and King Parnavaz streets.
Revaz Sokhadze and Sulkhan Tamazashvili visited the territory, where the Batumi-Sarphi highway will be constructed with a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and co-financing from the state budget. An 11-kilometer expressway will comprise a 7.6-km-long tunnel and 1.47-km-long bridge, which will reduce the travel time from Khelvachauri to Sarphi by 25-30 minutes.
Adjara Economy Minister, Deputy Infrastructure Ministers, Heads of Municipal Development Fund and Roads Department, and Batumi Municipality Mayor accompanied the Minister and Adjara Government Chair.
