Incumbent Tbilisi Mayor unveils healthcare and social policy projects for capital residents

Kakha Kaladze, the Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party’s mayoral candidate and current mayor of the capital, has presented healthcare and social policy projects to be implemented over the next four years.

The presentation was attended by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
As Kakha Kaladze noted during his address, healthcare and social policy were and will remain Tbilisi City Hall’s main priority in future.

“As the capital’s incumbent mayor and mayoral candidate for Tbilisi, I continue presenting the population with those fundamental directions to which the municipality will devote the greatest time and energy over the next four years. Today, I want to present to you the direction where I believe we bear the greatest responsibility, because it concerns people’s health, often their very lives, citizens’ social needs, and people’s futures.

Healthcare and social policy were and will remain our main priority. You know that corresponding programmes and services increase annually, as does Tbilisi’s budget. Once again, I want to take this opportunity to thank the Prime Minister for his support,” Kakha Kaladze declared.

According to him, approximately GEL 106 million has been allocated this year for healthcare and social services.

“I believe our team has clearly demonstrated to everyone that we leave no one alone facing difficulties, that we stand beside our citizens. This is precisely the direction where it’s impossible to show indifference towards anyone or assess someone by political criteria.

We care for our fellow citizens regardless of their views. Some 300,000 people benefit annually from healthcare and social programme benefits, with over half a million cases funded. This year, approximately GEL 106 million has been allocated for healthcare and social services, including the implementation of 31 programmes. I want to take this opportunity to extend particular thanks to my deputy Andria Basilaia, municipal service head Gela Chiviashvili, and each of his staff members for the work and conscientiousness they show daily in helping our citizens,” Kakha Kaladze noted.

The capital’s mayor announced that three new programmes will be triggered in healthcare and social services over the next four years.

“Politics based on humanism and social justice is the cornerstone of Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia. I’m proud to represent precisely that team for which humanity is the greatest value. We have never divided citizens into groups. Our team cares for the population’s welfare in daily mode and builds brick by brick a better future for our city for absolutely everyone.

Therefore, each programme through which we offer even small assistance to citizens living around us is particularly precious to us. Regarding the next four years, current programmes in social and healthcare directions will expand, and three new programmes will be started. These are: the Early-stage Cancer Diagnostic Research Funding programme, the Lung Cancer Screening Funding programme, and the Thyroid Gland Radioiodotherapy Funding programme,” the Tbilisi mayor declared.

At the end of his remarks, Kakha Kaladze thanked the government head, representatives of Georgia’s Parliament and Tbilisi City Council for their support.

“I want to thank Georgia’s government and its head, Irakli Kobakhidze, for the great support they provide to the municipality. I thank Georgia’s Parliament and Tbilisi City Council for their significant initiatives for Tbilisi, for the necessary legislative changes.

Our strength lies precisely in being one team, one big family that serves Georgia and the Georgian people. We shall leave no one facing problems alone. We shall help everyone with whatever we can. Our task is to have as few socially vulnerable citizens as possible in the country, but whilst there’s a need for support and solidarity, we shall help everyone and stand beside them.

I wish you peace, prosperity and health. We, for our part, shall stand beside you maximally in everything and try to ensure your families’ social and health conditions are even better than they are today,” Kakha Kaladze declared.

The presentation of planned projects was attended by cabinet members, representatives of Tbilisi City Hall, the City Council and Parliament, as well as sector specialists.
