Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health, and Social Affairs, met with representatives from dialysis service providers and the Association of Dialysis, Nephrology, and Kidney Transplantation, the Ministry of Health reported.
According to the agency, the parties discussed the development of dialysis services, examined the challenges facing the sector, and explored potential solutions.
Minister Sarjveladze emphasized the importance of ensuring geographical accessibility to dialysis services while focusing on the continuous improvement of these services to protect patients’ best interests. He highlighted that the sector is staffed by highly qualified professionals and assured that the Ministry will support further advancements in the field.
The meeting also addressed critical issues such as the financing of dialysis services, equipment renewal, the establishment of a unified treatment protocol, remuneration for medical personnel, and their ongoing education. The attendees agreed that active efforts in these areas will persist. Working groups will be formed, comprising representatives from the sector and the ministry, to develop necessary changes shortly to enhance the quality of medical services.
Deputy Ministers of Health Tea Giorgadze and Giorgi Pataridze, Head of the Healthcare Policy Department Irine Javakhadze, Director of the National Health Agency Koba Zurabishvili, and Deputy Director Ekaterine Sharadze attended the meeting.
