Health Minister - We are against the commercialisation of fast COVID-19 tests
“We are against the commercialisation of fast COVID-19 tests, no one has the right to profit from this situation,” Georgian Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze said after the meeting at the Government Administration. The Minister noted that regarding the test quality, the government is very strict.
“As of today, eight companies submitted documents to the Regulatory Agency for bringing tests into Georgia. The agency has authorised four of them to bring fast tests as well as PSR tests into Georgia. In the current situation, neither the agency nor the private sector has the right to see profits from the people. We are against to fix the preliminary prices. Therefore, we have decided to fix the price in which the government will allocate a certain amount of money if doctor confirms that the testing is needful,” Tikaradze said.
Health Minister added that the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health Georgia has already chosen seven authorised private laboratories for testing. Lugar Lab gifted them new tests. She says there are no grounds for panic in Georgia.
