Minister of Health of Georgia, Mikheil Sarjveladze, has met with Hans Kluge, the Regional Director of the World Health Organisation for Europe.
According to the Ministry of Health, the two officials discussed avenues of cooperation between Georgia and the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
The discussion covered ongoing and planned reforms within Georgia’s healthcare sector, including strengthening primary healthcare, the universal health coverage programme, improving access to medicines, addressing the needs of those with rare diseases, and regional collaboration strategies.
Hans Kluge praised the ongoing reforms in Georgia’s healthcare system, stating that “strengthening primary healthcare and the ongoing changes are making a significant contribution to providing quality services to the population and ensuring the sustainable development of the system.”
The importance of partnership with the World Health Organisation was emphasised, along with the willingness to deepen cooperation further in the future.
Attending the meeting alongside Minister Sarjveladze were Zaza Lominadze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Health and Social Issues, and Aleksandre Maisuradze, Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva and other international organisations.
