Head of Government Administration: Twelve supermarket chains mandated to post best prices on new price-comparison portal

“Consumers will have complete access to the best retail prices,” stated Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia, when discussing the new unified information platform, www.ekalata.gov.ge.

Zhorzholiani highlighted the significance of the newly launched platform.

“It is vital that consumers have full transparency regarding the best retail prices. Furthermore, this will drive competition among the 12 participating chains, which will be mandated to publish their best offers on the portal. Data from 2025 shows the FMCG sector reached 14 billion GEL, with organised retail capturing a 64 per cent market share. This platform is therefore a significant step forward, and I am confident it will deliver tangible benefits for the public,” Zhorzholiani said.

The digital portal, ekalata.gov.ge, has now gone live, displaying prices and promotional offers from various supermarkets.
