Gov't approves 2024-2025 Climate Change action plan

The Georgian government approved the Climate Change action plan for 2024-2025.

The plan outlines activities for easing climate changes in seven sectors: energy generation and transmission, transport, construction, industry, agriculture, waste management, and forestry. The total budget amounts to GEL 3,694,328,186.

“The document was prepared with the active participation of relevant agencies. In addition, public consultations were held with the involvement of all interested stakeholders,” said the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

Georgia joined Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) within the framework of the commitment taken as per the Paris Agreement of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Georgia-EU Association Agreement in 2021 and has since defined the reduction of thermal air emissions as the priority.
