Gov't Administration Head: State-owned enterprises should be profitable, not merely self-sufficient
“The optimization process in energy companies, state-owned enterprises, and Georgian Railways has been underway for a month, resulting in savings of over 52 million GEL,” Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia, stated.
He noted that this optimization is the first phase of the broader reform of state-owned enterprises announced by the Prime Minister, with the ultimate goal of making these enterprises profitable.
“State-owned enterprises should not merely be self-sufficient—they must generate profit, which is their primary objective. They should be capable of securing loans, implementing infrastructure projects, and contributing to the state budget. This is the ultimate goal, and the optimization process already initiated is the first step toward achieving it,” Zhorzholiani said.
