Government granted authority to designate protected objects for security police

The government will have the power to determine, by decree, the list of state or public importance objects to be protected by the Security Police Department. The relevant amendments will be included in the Law “On Police.”

According to the government, there is currently no legal framework granting the authority to designate which objects of state or public importance must be protected by the Security Police Department.

“Existing practice shows that protection of strategically important state objects may not be adequately ensured by private security organizations, due to limitations in their qualifications and material-technical resources. Therefore, it is essential for the government to have the authority to determine which objects should be protected by experienced personnel trained in police skills,” the draft law states.
