Government Efficiency Department identifies risks of opaque spending following monitoring
“The Government Efficiency Department, acting within the scope of its legislative authority, monitored both completed and ongoing projects across various sectors carried out by several state agencies. The purpose was to evaluate compliance, cost-effectiveness, and productivity,” states the Department’s 2025 report.
According to the report, a comprehensive review of state procurement processes, amounting to hundreds of millions of GEL, uncovered several instances in which risks linked to irrational and opaque spending of public funds were identified.
“A report was compiled as part of this monitoring, which has been forwarded to the relevant investigative authorities for further action. Criminal proceedings are currently underway concerning these cases. Additionally, information regarding the identified risks has been shared with the pertinent agencies, which have been issued instructions and recommendations to mitigate these risks and prevent potential negative consequences,” the report concludes.
