“Certain media outlets blatantly released disinformation allegedly saying the government sold 3.337 square meters of space in the Sakartvelo Hotel located in Tbilisi,” the Government Administration said in its released statement.

According to the statement, the property was sold formally.

“In fact, even a cursory glance at the relevant decision of the Georgian government was enough to realize that the property was sold formally. Sakartvelo Hotel was entirely privatazed many years ago, and the owner has changed several times since then. In the last case, a discrepancy was identified between the area fixed in the survey plan drawn up by the state years earlier and the hotel’s actual area. In order to fix the error and restore justice, the space of discrepancy 3. 237 square meters was sold at a symbolic price to the hotel owner so that the volume of his assets did not actually increase.

This confirms that certain media outlets failed to determine the simple truth or released the manipulative information intentionally.

Since February 8, 2024, the government has halted the practice of selling state property at a symbolic price and through direct rule, and it remains committed to this principle. Therefore, we urge all media outlets to refrain from the release of disinformation and misinforming society in the future,” the Government Administration said.
