“Based on the large-scale and comprehensive study conducted by Swiss Company GEOTEST on Georgia’s glacial valleys confirms that there is no immediate, direct threat,” said Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Government Administration.

Levan Zhorzholiani stated that the installation of monitoring systems is one of the significant factors for risk management and prevention, which will be ensured by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

“Also, a government coordination mechanism will be established within the Government Administration, where all agencies that will be responsible based on their competencies will be united,” he said.

Daniel Tobler, Swiss GEOTEST expert, with whom a contract was signed in 2024 to study natural hazards in glacial valleys, presented the study findings to the Prime Minister today.
