Government Administration Head: During meeting with U.S. State Department delegation, we reviewed investments that Georgian government implemented in terms of connectivity
“During the meeting with the U.S. State Department delegation, we reviewed investments that the Georgian government implemented in terms of connectivity,” said Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Government Administration in the GPB’s Business Partner Program.
“We spoke about the so-called Trump Route located in our region. This corridor does not cross Georgia, though we stressed that if there is a corridor where Americans can secure the transportation of cargo, this will positively affect the entire region. We noted that there is a long way ahead in terms of infrastructure, but if the economies of Turkey, Armenia, and Azerbaijan grow, and these countries are friendly to Georgia, this progress will automatically reflect in the neighbourhood. We have friendly relations with all three neighbouring countries.
During the meeting with the U.S. State Department delegation, we reviewed investments that the Georgian government has implemented in terms of connectivity. Georgia has access to the Black Sea for eight countries in the region; therefore, its role is significant due to its location. We are investing a lot of money in the development of road, port, and railway infrastructure. We already have close cooperation with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in the transportation of the same cargo,” he said.
According to Levan Zhorzholiani, the guest positively assessed the work of Georgian customs checkpoints and asked the Georgian side to share experience with the Armenian colleagues.
“He visited the Sadakhlo checkpoint and inspected the technologies and trained staff, and requested Georgia to share its experience with our Armenian colleagues. Many high-ranking officials from Armenia have visited Georgia recently. We hosted the President of Armenia today. In general, the relations of Georgia with Armenia and Azerbaijan are exemplary. We keep active communication on the government level,” he stated.
U.S. State Department representative Jonathan Askonas visited Georgia to discuss Trump Route issues.
