Gogolati village acquiring a national category status by government resolution
Monument of historic and cultural heritage – Gogolati Village of Ambrolauri Municipality – has been granted a status of national category. It was announced by Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia when meeting the local community today.
Wide-scale rehabilitation works will be carried out in the village so that it maintains its original image in line with the applicable Government Resolution.
“It is our duty that this unique culture, traditions, architecture is preserved not only for the future generations, but to ensure its longevity in the centuries to come. History of this beauty dates several centuries and it is our duty to preserve it for our future generations. I am convinced that Gogolati Village will become one of the most popular tourism destinations not only in Racha, but throughout Georgia. This village showcases several dozen of private houses with their authentic Georgian architecture and unique ornaments. When one visits this place, it is impossible to look at the surroundings without a splash of emotions. It is the sign of greatest culture and experience, as it is impossible for a nation to create such beauty as seen in this village and region at large without its centuries-old history” noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Head of Government of Georgia spoke about the past and pending infrastructure projects implemented in the region and noted that all of this will facilitate the revival of the region and will incentivize people to go back to their origins if currently living elsewhere.
“Both in Oni and Ambrolauri, infrastructure projects are advancing at a very good speed. It is important for us to inject new life in Racha so that locals, including those that had to relocate, grasp the opportunities to return to their most beautiful region. Construction of Imereti-Racha access road is progressing at an accelerated speed. It is a very important project, which is capable of reviving the region. Immensely significant projects have actually been completed and problems associated to a tap water supply system will be resolved once and for all. It will be followed with a development of a tourism infrastructure. Last year was marked with the most successful vintage in the history of the independent Georgia and I am confident that our economic performance this year will be even more successful. It is very important that Racha joined our national idea – education. It is the region of the country, where reading of books has always been admired and cherished most of all. We will complete the rehabilitation of every school building and construction of new ones in Racha by the end of the next year. It was very important for me that we managed to sharply increase the number of tourists visiting Racha. Currently 160 guesthouses operate here already and it is only the start. This unique village is a clear evidence of this” added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Head of Government of Georgia viewed houses of unique architecture and ornaments in Gogolati Village and spoke with local residents. Folk songs were also performed by the Iavnana Ensemble to delight the visiting top government official.
