Giorgi Vashadze: PACE Committee fully considered our position, reflecting Georgian people’s will
“I believe the committee has fully considered our position, which reflects the will of the Georgian people,” said Giorgi Vashadze, one of the leaders of the Unity-National Movement, while commenting on the draft project from the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
As Vashadze pointed out, this is a preliminary document, and the final vote will take place tomorrow.
“New elections will be held by April. All political prisoners should be released, and law enforcement officials who have abused citizens must be held accountable. No one will be permitted to hold any position until April, and Georgian Dream will not be able to participate in any delegations. Several restrictions have been outlined, with the deadline set for April. To be clear, they do not recognize this government as legitimate, and new elections must take place by April. This establishes a precedent in the international arena and aligns with our position as well. If these conditions are not met, the delegation’s credentials in the Council will be revoked in April. Currently, they are making a symbolic exit, seeking to align the situation in Georgia with democratic standards. We must acknowledge that Tea Tsulukiani’s actions have significantly contributed to this situation. Her inappropriate behavior, particularly in Europe and specifically within the Ministry of Justice and the field of culture, where many employees have described her as inadequate, has become evident. All of Europe has seen firsthand who we are dealing with,” Vashadze concluded.
