The Giorgi Antsukhelidze Sergeants Academy marked its 22nd anniversary. Deputy Commander of the Defence Forces, Major General Zaza Chkhaidze, along with Commander of Defence Forces Training and Military Education, Colonel Zurab Khvichia, and Chief Sergeant of the Defence Forces, Giorgi Gogochuri, congratulated the Academy personnel and wished them success in their vital mission.
The family of National Hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze also attended the event in Kojori. As part of the celebration, military personnel were awarded the Giorgi Antsukhelidze medal for their contributions to the Academy’s development.
Before the ceremony, Defence Forces representatives laid a wreath at the memorial honouring those who died for Georgia’s territorial integrity.
The Sergeants Academy trains personnel with command skills essential for the Georgian Defence Forces, preparing them to lead at various levels, from group leader and platoon commander to brigade sergeant. On November 15, 2013, the Sergeants Training School was named after National Hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze and established as a training centre. Since March 25, 2018, it has held the status of a Sergeants Academy.
