German Ambassador proposes a toast to Georgian resilience and a peaceful European future

“To a shared, peaceful, and European future!” With these words from Ambassador-designate Barbara Voss, we celebrated the Day of German Unity alongside our Georgian, German, and international partners.

As the German Embassy noted in a Facebook post, this national holiday commemorates the peaceful revolution of 1989, when courageous citizens in East Germany took to the streets for freedom and democracy, ultimately bringing about the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification in 1990.

“Let us toast to peace in Georgia, peace in Ukraine, and peace across our European continent. Let us raise a glass to the resilience of the Georgian people, to your breathtaking culture, and to the unbreakable bond of friendship between our two societies,” stated the German Ambassador.

The German Embassy thanked everyone who celebrated this special day with them and “who continues to actively participate every day in shaping and deepening German–Georgian friendship.”
