German Ambassador pleased with GD’s signing Danielsson's document

German Ambassador to Georgia Hubert Knirsch said he was pleased with the move of the ruling Georgian Dream party to sign Christian Danielsson’s plan.

According to him, the mediation of the EU and US gives all parties a chance to agree with dignity and then continue the political process without the help of others.

“I am glad that the Georgian Dream agreed to sign Danielsson’s plan. The particular points of the plan are good steps for the further development of democracy and the rule of law in Georgia. EU-US mediation gives all parties a chance to agree in a dignified manner and then continue the political process without the help of others. Any force that wants to fulfil its responsibility for the future of the country and its European path must now take this opportunity,” said Hubert Knirsch.

The ruling Georgian Dream party publicly signed the compromise solution prepared by the European Council President Charles Michel’s personal envoy Christian Danielsson on April 16.

Georgian opposition parties that won seats in the Georgian Parliament of the 10th Convocation believe the 2020 parliamentary elections were a fraud. They have been demanding repeat parliamentary elections and the release of the United National Movement Chair, Nika Melia, and the co-founder of the TV channel Mtavari Arkhi Giorgi Rurua.

The second EU-mediated attempt to solve political crises in Georgia failed. EU mediator Christian Danielsson proposed a solution to political actors on March 31.
