Gerard Connolly urges Georgia for strengthening common democratic values

“Georgia should advance to integration, it should adopt and strengthen common democratic values, norms and practices for the integration process to be successful,” said President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, U.S. Congressman Gerard Connolly at the press conference held within the framework of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Madrid.

According to Gerard Connolly, current developments in Ukraine remind everybody of Russian aggression in Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

“We want to restore the sovereignty of Georgian people and nation as well as in Ukraine and Moldova. We want Russia to accept the fact that in the 21st century, we do not solve problems by intrusion into others’ territories, we do not annex others’ territories, do not kill, torture and rape others only because they strive at freedom. These standards are unacceptable,” he said.

Gerard Connolly added that in this context, Europe wanted to see Georgia as an equal partner.
