GeoStat reports criminal prosecutions initiated against 2,984 individuals in March 2026
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), criminal proceedings were initiated against 2,984 individuals in March 2026. Among these, 178 individuals committed offences before their probationary period had expired, representing 6% of those prosecuted.
GeoStat further reports that the highest number of prosecutions in March was recorded in Tbilisi, with 1,095 cases, followed by 309 cases in Adjara, and 14 cases in the occupied region of Abkhazia.
The distribution of prosecutions in March 2026, based on specific articles of the Criminal Code, was as follows: theft – 355 cases; threats – 290 cases; domestic violence – 224 cases; violence – 212 cases; rape – seven cases; depraved behaviour – six cases; fraud – 230 cases; illegal purchase and/or possession of a narcotic drug, its analogue, precursor, or new psychoactive substance – 850 cases; and illegal manufacture, purchase, possession, transportation, forwarding, and/or illegal use of a narcotic drug, its analogue, or precursor in small quantities without a medical prescription – 199 cases.
