GeoStat reports 2025 business environment: Rising prices threaten customer reduction
According to the latest survey by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), the main challenge faced by businesses in 2025 was the increasing cost of goods and services, which has resulted in the loss of customers.
During the year, just 7.6 per cent of enterprises introduced new or significantly improved products to the market, while 7.9 per cent introduced new or significantly improved services.
Geostat highlights that the majority of these innovations, 69.1 per cent for goods and 61.5 per cent for services, were developed independently by the enterprises themselves. Furthermore, 65.2 per cent of the innovations implemented were entirely new to the enterprises, whereas 34.8 per cent were novel to the market.
In terms of business process innovations, 82.5 per cent were carried out directly by the enterprises, with 23.8 per cent involving collaboration with other businesses or institutions. Additionally, 23.6 per cent of innovations resulted from adapting or modifying goods and services developed elsewhere, while 18.5 per cent were developed by external entities.
When evaluating their strategic priorities, 45.9 per cent of enterprises placed high importance on focusing on high quality, 35.9 per cent prioritised improving existing goods and services, and 36.6 per cent aimed to better satisfy their current customer groups.
Overall, the predominant obstacle in the business environment remains the rise in prices for goods and services, which continues to threaten customer retention and business stability.
