GeoStat: Living wage increases in Georgia

The subsistence minimum increased in December of 2020, according to GeoStat, the Georgian National Statistics Bureau.

The living minimum wage for working-age men was 189.5 GEL this October, while the amount increased by 3 GEL to 192.5 GEL in December.

The GeoStat reported that the average consumer subsistence level increased by 2.6 GEL against November data and amounted to 170.5 GEL.

The National Statistics Service calculates the subsistence level based on the minimum food basket.

The minimum food basket consists of 40 different products, including bread, cereals, meat, dairy products, vegetables, and confectionery.
