Since 2022, the National Statistics Office of Georgia has been publishing a new indicator—the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP).
According to Geostat, inflation in March 2025, calculated using the HICP methodology, stood at 3.6%, which is 0.1 percentage point higher than the 3.5% inflation rate measured by the national methodology.
The year-on-year price changes for individual components, based on the EU HICP methodology, are as follows:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: 5.8%
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: 4.3%
Clothing and footwear: 1.0%
Housing, water, electricity, gas, and heating: 1.4%
Furniture, household goods, and maintenance: -2.1%
Health care: 8.9%
Transport: -0.4%
Communications: -12.1%
Recreation and culture: 2.2%
Education: 5.3%
Hotels, cafes, and restaurants: 7.2%
Miscellaneous goods and services: 5.5%
