Georgia’s PM and Uzbek President attend unveiling of monument to poet Alisher Navoi

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, alongside the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, attended the official unveiling of a monument dedicated to the renowned poet Alisher Navoi.

According to the Administration of the Government of Georgia, the monument was inaugurated in Alisher Navoi Park, in the Varketili district of Tbilisi.

“The ceremony featured speeches from Georgia’s Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, and the Uzbek Minister of Culture, Ozodbek Nazarbekov. Both speakers emphasised that the unveiling of this monument bears testament to the long-standing friendly relations and enduring partnership between Georgia and Uzbekistan.

The event was also attended by cabinet members from both the Georgian and Uzbek governments, alongside the Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, Giorgi Tkemaladze, and the Chairman of the Tbilisi City Assembly, Zurab Abashidze,” the official statement noted.
