Georgia's EU Ambassador hopes PM's visit to Brussels to be productive

Georgia’s EU Ambassador Vakhtang Makharoblishvili said he hopes the visit of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to Brussels will be interesting and productive.

According to Makharoblishvili, the EU-Georgia Association Council will focus on Georgia’s next step on the EU integration path which is opening negotiations on accession and sectoral integration, including in natural disaster prevention mechanisms.

Georgia’s EU Ambassador added that the Georgia-Russia conflict would be discussed within the framework of the EU-Georgia Association Council meeting.

“The Georgian side will provide European colleagues with information about gross human rights violations and humanitarian situation in the occupied territories. And naturally, a discussion will be held on how the European Union can play a further, positive role in the process of peaceful resolution of the Russia-Georgia conflict,” he said.

The 8th meeting of the EU-Georgia Association Council will take place in Brussels on February 20. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will lead the Georgian delegation. The PM will meet the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg within the framework of his visit to Brussels.
