The Georgian state flag was put up and is waving at the Republican Square in Strasbourg, France, symbolizing Georgia’s Chairmanship of Committee of Ministers at the Council of Europe (CoE).

Georgian Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani, Deputy Mayor of Strasbourg, Secretary-General of the CoE and invited guests attended the flag-raising ceremony. The Georgian national anthem was performed and the lace was cut.

Georgia will be Chairman of Committee of Ministers at the Council of Europe during the period from November 27, 2019, to May 15, 2020. The chairmanship was handed over to Georgia from France earlier this afternoon.

Georgia will have 4 priorities as Chairman: human rights and environment protection; civil engagement in decision-making process; jurisdiction oriented on children; and strengthening of democracy with the engagement of education, culture and youth.

During the chairmanship period, Georgia will organize about 20 activities at the Council of Europe.
