Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and First Lady Tamar Bagrationi, alongside President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and his spouse Tamara Vučić, are visiting the eastern Kakheti region of Georgia.

According to the Presidential Administration, the two presidents and their spouses visited Alaverdi St. George Cathedral and monastery complex. Abba David (Makharadze), Metropolitan of Alaverdi, hosted the officials.

“Taking into account the common spiritual and cultural values between the friendly nations of Georgia and Serbia, the joint visit to this most important holy shrine had a special symbolic meaning.

The Presidents also visited the Badagoni wine plant, where the company founder Giorgi Salakaia familiarized the guests with ancient and modern wine-making technologies.

As a sign of hospitality and strong friendship between Georgia and Serbia, a symbolic wine barrel was ceremoniously opened in the name of President Aleksandar Vučić.

The first official visit of the President of Serbia to Georgia is another step forward in deepening the Georgia-Serbia partnership and strengthening the multilateral ties between our peoples,” the Presidential Administration said.
