The Police Academy will be granted the status of a higher educational institution, according to amendments proposed to the Law “On Police.” The change aims to popularize police work as a profession, develop academically trained police personnel, improve the effectiveness of law enforcement, strengthen community-oriented policing, and establish a unified vision of police activities.

The Academy will offer higher academic programs to train police officers with legal and professional competencies. Admission will be open to individuals who meet legal requirements for police employment, pass the examination, and successfully complete the Unified National Exams.

The curriculum will include physical, tactical, and firearms training, as well as mandatory subjects on public security and police work. Students will be granted access to state secrets in accordance with the procedure established by law. Upon enrollment, students will receive the junior special rank of private, and graduates will be awarded the rank of lieutenant. The period of study will count as a calendar year of service.

The first cohort is planned for September 2027, with 44 students admitted tuition-free. Students will receive equipment, materials, food, uniforms, incentives, mandatory state insurance, and, if needed, dormitory housing.
