Georgian Parliamentary Committee continues visit to Ireland

The visit of the members of the Diaspora and Caucasus Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Georgia to the Republic of Ireland continues.

The committee chair Beka Odisharia and the members of the committee held a meeting with the head of the friendship group of the Parliament of Ireland with the Georgian Parliament, Senator Diarmuid Wilson.

According to Parliament, Senator congratulated his Georgian colleagues on the EU granting Georgia the EU candidate status and wished further success in European integration.

Beka Odisharia thanked his colleague for the congratulations and particularly emphasized the contributions of the head of the friendship group, Senator Diarmuid Wilson, and Senator Gerard Craughwell to Georgia’s path to European integration. According to Beka Odisharia, it was on their initiative that in June 2022 the Senate of Ireland adopted a resolution supporting Georgia, calling on the EU to grant Georgia the status. Odisharia emphasized that the support of the Irish authorities in this process is very valuable for Georgia.

According to Senator Diarmud Wilson, as the head of the friendship group with the Parliament of Georgia, he is glad that the relationship between the legislative bodies  is becoming more intense, which is confirmed by the current visit.
